These mitochondria boosted cell energy; ultimately, helping participants recover faster.

Massage Removes Waste Products

When you exercise, a wide variety of byproducts are produced. And massage helps to increase blood flow to the affected area. In turn, these byproducts get carried away from this area and excreted faster by the body via increased circulation and blood flow. It can further help with drainage, such as in conditions like edema or swelling from an injury.

It Decreases Stress Throughout the Body

Stress can amplify painful conditions and cause even further inflammation throughout the body. But massage combats this by relaxing the body. Regular massage lowers your heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and helps lower potentially harmful stress hormones. Deeper tissue massage helps to release adhesions and scar tissue. These adhesions and scar tissue cause tissues to become stuck, which limits your movement and causes pain.
